Martial arts training can be taught very early on including pre-school ages. We have students who start as young as 4 years old in our Little Dragons Program. Starting martial arts at a young age can quickly help a child develop physical motor skills, social skills and focus skills all while learning basic self defense. We always recommend having younger children begin with our free evaluation where we have you and your child visit any of our locations in Orlando, meet our staff, take a one on one or group lesson with our instructor and our team can recommend the best level of program for your child.
Most children benefit from attending martial arts classes 2–3 times per week to build consistency, confidence, and skill development. In our Orlando programs, we offer flexible scheduling so families can choose class times that fit their routine while still allowing students to progress at a steady pace. Training consistently helps children improve faster, stay engaged, and develop the habits that martial arts is known for, such as discipline and focus.
Martial arts classes for kids are designed to be safe, structured, and supervised by trained instructors. In our Orlando martial arts programs, students learn in a controlled environment with age-appropriate drills that focus on coordination, discipline, and awareness. Safety is always a priority, and children are taught how to practice techniques responsibly while respecting their training partners. Many parents find that martial arts is actually safer than traditional sports while still helping kids stay active and confident.
Yes, we offer beginner martial arts classes in Orlando for children, teens, and adults of all experience levels. Our programs are specifically designed to help new students feel comfortable while learning the basics of martial arts in a supportive environment. For kids especially, trying something new can feel overwhelming, which is why our instructors focus on building confidence, focus, and discipline from day one. Whether your child is brand new to martial arts or looking to try something different from another sport or studio, our beginner programs are a great place to start.
Martial arts classes for kids in Orlando help develop focus, confidence, discipline, and physical fitness in a structured and positive environment. Parents often notice improvements in listening skills, behavior, and overall awareness as their child continues training. Beyond self-defense, martial arts teaches goal setting, respect, and perseverance skills that carry over into school and everyday life. At Championship Martial Arts, we also take time to understand your goals as a parent so we can help your child grow both on and off the mat from their very first class.
We believe in martial arts being the cornerstone of character development and real world self defense skills. That being said we heavily teach that martial arts should be used only as a last resort if other ways of deescalating a situation does not work. Our "common sense before self defense" philosophy is why we pride ourselves on teaching children, teens and adults about non-violent ways to handle a confrontation but also having the awareness and confidence to use their martial arts skills to defend themselves when a situation calls for it.
Depending on your schedule our martial arts program can be a great after school activity for children and teens. While we do not offer a typical after school program with pick up and drop off, our flexible schedule helps students and families train in martial arts at times and days that are convenient for their lifestyle. To learn about our schedule we recommend starting with the free evaluation session where our team can evaluate your child's experience level and go over the schedule of the program that best fits you and your family's needs.
